Heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury are among the environmental contaminants in foodstuffs which can pose health risks for consumers depending on their concentrations. It is not possible to clearly define the pathways of heavy metals into foodstuffs: without human intervention, due to human activities or through contaminated additives.

I firmly believe that environmental action leads to greater social justice and that the two are inextricably linked.
