Response to Fukushima

On 11 March 2011 Japan was struck by a severe earthquake. The impact of the earthquake and the tsunami it triggered was also felt at nuclear power plant sites - specifically Fukushima I (Daiichi), Fukushima II (Daini), Onagawa and Tokai. At Japan's Fukushima I (Daiichi) nuclear power plant, it was the tsunami in particular that caused the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. The Federal Environment Ministry has since been closely involved in developments within Germany brought about in response to the disaster in Fukushima. Overview
