Gross Employment from Renewable Energy in Germany in the Year 2008 - A first estimate -
Research project of the Federal Environment Ministry (BMU)
The number of jobs which can be attributed to the renewable energies sector continued to rise in 2008 against the backdrop of a continuous growth in turnover. A tentative estimate carried out by an ongoing research project on behalf of the BMU put the gross employment figure for the whole sector (including foreign trade and preceding stages in the value added chain) at approximately 278,000 jobs. This is a plus of 12% against 2007 (249,000 jobs).
