The 5th Energy Research Programme of the Federal Government

On 1 June 2005 the Federal Cabinet adopted the 5th Energy Research Programme entitled "Innovation and New Energy Technologies." This replaces the 4th Energy Research Programme from 1996. The new programme prescribes a total of around 1.7 billion euro for the period 2005 to 2008 for research on and development of modern energy technologies. Funding for projects in the fields of renewable energies and energy efficiency will rise to 258 million euro by 2008. The 5th Energy Research Programme and the latest calls for proposals (in German only) form the basis for the Federal Environment Ministry’s research funding.
