Biodiversity Agenda of the EU Presidencies Germany, Portugal, Slovenia

1 January 2007 – 30 June 2008

Achieving the 2010 biodiversity target is the guiding principle of European action. With the European presidency all three countries are taking on a major responsibility in preparing and implementing concrete, practicable regulations and measures for achieving the 2010 target at European and global levels. The EU will be actively involved in the preparations of the 9th Conference of the Parties (COP 9) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in order to ensure that the conference is an important milestone. For Germany, hosting the meeting, the success of this event is an additional challenge.
