Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) of the IPCC (2007) on climate change
Part I - The Physical Science Basis - Summary
The report of the IPCC's Working Group I is the first of a total of 3 volumes making up the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4). It describes the current understanding of the scientific basis of climate change. Since the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC (TAR) was published in 2001, major progress has been made in research on understanding current climate changes: spatial and temporal datasets have been extended, data analyses improved, there has been broader geographical coverage of the Earth and existing uncertainties are now better understood and have been limited with regard to their climate impact. In particular, more and improved models were applied. The 4th Assessment Report confirms, supports or specifies key statements of the 3rd Assessment Report.
