Grant recipient: Státni Fond Životniho Prostredi Ceské Republiky (national fund for environmental protection of the Czech Republic)
In this project, two water quality monitoring stations on the Elbe (Obristvi) and the Moldau (Zelcin) which were destroyed in the floods of August 2002, as well as the main laboratory in Prague, were to be made functional as quickly as possible. They are all involved in the coordinated measuring and monitoring system of the International Commission for the Protection of the Elbe.
In supporting the new joint German-Czech environmental pilot project, the Federal Environment Ministry was also aware that the environmental protection installations to be repaired under the project are important for monitoring the success of completed projects and for preparing and implementing further measures for the protection of the Elbe. The project was also an expression of the good cooperation and trust between the two countries in the International Commission for the Protection of the Elbe.
The project was successfully concluded in July 2003.
