Launch of SME initiative At the beginning of 2013 a new initiative for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is being launched to boost the transformation of the German energy system, the "Energiewende". It will provide SMEs with information and expertise on all topics relating to the "Energiewende". more
Federal Minister for Economics and Technology, Dr. Philipp Rösler, and Federal Environment Minister Peter Altmaier presented the first monitoring report "Energy of the Future". The federal cabinet had adopted the report earlier in the day. The report finds that the transformation of the energy system, a task for several generations, has made progress, but that some challenges are yet to be addressed. more

In 2011, there was again a massive increase in the use of renewable energy worldwide. Global investment in the sector rose by about 17 per cent over 2010 levels, reaching a record high of 257 billion US dollars. This was announced today by the REN21 policy network in its annual Renewables Global Status Report (GSR). more
