Climate Challenges - Germany’s international approach

For many years Germany has been one of the major donors to climate protection action in developing and newly industrialising countries. In recent years the German Government has systematically stepped up its climate commitments in the developing world. Between 2005 und 2011 Germany's climate protection investments almost tripled to an amount of more than 1.2 billion euros annually (planned for 2011). This sum includes the German Government’s share of the commitment made by the industrialised countries in Copenhagen and Cancun to provide fast start funds to the amount of 1.26 billion euros for climate protection measures in developing countries for the 2010 - 2012 commitment period.

The brochure gives an overview of the German fast start commitment and focuses especially on climate projects in Africa.
