SUMMARY;CHARSET=utf-8:"Towards a Global Carbon Market – Prospects for Emissions Trading"
DESCRIPTION;CHARSET=utf-8:International conference\n\n\nThe global carbon market is developing rapidly as the idea of putting a price on carbon is gaining momentum in many countries and regions. While existing emissions trading systems (ETS) are being further refined and strengthened, new systems are emerging around the world, many in newly industrialised and developing countries.\n\nTaking account of this increasing interest in emissions trading, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety is organizing an international high-level conference. Policy makers and experts, representatives of industry and finance, environmentalists and innovators will gather to shape the vision of a global carbon market, which is a unique opportunity for cooperation and engagement for the fight against climate change.\n\nGerman Federal Environment Minister Peter Altmaier will open the conference and be joined by further high-level guests for a discussion on the future of the global carbon market. Various panels and keynote speeches will highlight the latest developments in the establishment of emissions trading systems around the world and discuss the way forward.
