Climate Change Conference in Bali

Go-ahead for comprehensive climate negotiations

The 13th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 3rd Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol will take place in Bali from 3 to 14 December 2007.

The EU seeks to reach agreement on an extensive negotiation process, the "Bali Roadmap", which will define key negotiating issues as well as a timetable. It is planned to conclude negotiations on a new and comprehensive climate protection regime based on the Kyoto Protocol by 2009, to avoid a gap arising after the end of the first commitment period under the Kyoto Protocol in 2012.
